Manager Strategic Business Development

POSITION PURPOSE -


Responsible for assisting in the development of key strategic initiatives across the company.  The team works directly with the Executive Leadership Team to refine the company's current strategy and to execute special strategic projects.  Specific responsibilities include:

-       Support the development and monitoring of key strategic initiatives
-        Conduct specialized analysis for a wide variety of strategic questions that span the breadth of the organization from growth strategies to realization of full-  potential opportunities in the core business
-        Maintain a strategic fact base (market, competitors, trends, etc.) that shapes executive decision-making
-       Execute acquisitions and divestitures

The group is combined with the company's Financial Planning and Analysis group, and a   Manager of Strategic Business Development may be responsible for a varying degree of planning, forecasting and analysis work.


MAJOR TASKS, RESPONSIBILITIES AND KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES -

-       Support annual strategic planning process:  Assist business leaders in the development and communication of specific operational/merchandising initiatives that will drive the overall corporate strategy; and support monthly reviews of key strategic imperatives
-       Provide market and competitive business intelligence:  Monitor and assess macro trends in the home improvement marketplace; and maintain competitive overviews using publicly available information - both financial and strategic -- and routine store visits
-       Conduct ad hoc analysis and provide recommendations on a wide variety of strategic business decisions important to the Executive Leadership Team; examples include:  Acquisitions or divestitures, Benchmarking (intra and inter-company), Operational decisions across the company (Merchandising, Marketing, Supply Chain, E-commerce, Store Operations, etc.)
-       Financial Planning and Analysis:  Maintain consolidated company forecasts: income statement, cash flow, and balance sheet.  Prepare and interpret various analyses of company results.  Financial planning and target setting.  Five to seven year financials models for the overall company


NATURE AND SCOPE –
-       Reports to Director, Strategic Business Development
-       Position frequently works directly with executives across the company on a variety of strategic projects.


ENVIRONMENTAL JOB REQUIREMENTS –
-       Located in a comfortable indoor area.
-       Typically requires overnight travel less than 10% of the time.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS –
-       Must be eighteen years of age or older.
-       Must pass the Drug Test.
-       Must pass the Background Check.
-       Must pass pre-employment tests if applicable.

EDUCATION REQUIRED

-        The knowledge, skills and abilities typically acquired through the completion of a Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience.

YEARS OF RELEVANT WORK EXPERIENCE -  2-4

PHYSICAL JOB REQUIREMENTS -

-       Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position and there is frequent opportunity to move about. On rare occasions there may be a need to move or lift light articles.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS –
-         MBA Preferred
-       Previous experience with a top-tier consulting or investment banking firm.
-       Retail experience and/or interest

Job Description

POSITION PURPOSE:

• Focused on providing shelf leadership for customers in the development of schematics, and overall approach to space allocation and assortment.
• Lead the dialogue with the customer on strategic placement of CCR delivered products.
• Proactively recommend category growth opportunities and points of availability with customer. This role develops, recommend, and facilitate sell-in of customer specific space merchandising strategy in alignment of channel direction by proactively recommending category growth opportunities and points of inspiration with customers to increase availability of our products at retail.
• Establishes relationships with retailer buying influencers, and actively participate in calls with Key Accounts, and Category Managers.
• Works closely with appropriate Space Planning COE, Category Planning, sales operations and reset personnel to align strategies, tactics and in-store implementation
• Creates schematics appropriate to deploy Segmented Merchandising strategies for all channels at the same time activate customer’s own clustering and allocation methodologies.
Requirements

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Develop schematics in alignment with company’s merchandising standards, channel direction and customer’s goals and objectives.
• Project scope can cover entire beverage section, assortment across manufacturers and includes cleansing, download of scan data and complex space to sales analysis.
• Perform ROI analysis to determine the value of the project and communicate those results to project requester to prioritize and focus on high value added work.
• Perform sales calls without Key Accounts or Category Manager.
• Lead dialogue with the customer on strategic placement of company’s products and confident to discuss recommended schematics and beverage performance, category growth opportunities and points of availability.
• Provide clear communication to Sales Operations on initiatives established with customers to meet their required expectations.
• Work with Key Account team, Sales Operations and reset personnel to align tactics and implementation.
• Provide support to Key Accounts development of creative displays, racks, and cold equipment schematics. Access and utilize all available data sources to achieve proper SKU assortment and space allocation (i.e. Margin Minder Data, Nielsen Data).
• Interaction with Sales Operations time in-outlet, follow established routine of scheduling trade time with Sales Operations Leadership.
• Orchestrate the deployment of Intactix Knowledge Based (IKB) basic functionality     for region customers at local level
• Complete training to keep abreast of latest space planning tools & techniques.
• Ensure technical software updates are completed.
